EPISODE 154 - A David vs Goliath Story: Brendon Woolf emerges victorious against the NDIA
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this Episode, we welcome back a repeat guest speaker, Brendon Woolf. He was featured in one of our shows about 11 months ago, when he took on the NDIA at the AAT to fight for the right to the get the correct SDA funding to live by himself in an HPS apartment. Our first episode with this wonderful person was published on Sept 2022, see link below:
Episode 61 - A Participant's fight for SDA Funding (ft. Brendon Woolf)
Today we rehash the journey thus far which has taken almost 3 years for Brendon to come out victorious. It is an inspriring story for others to listen in on his long journey, and we can only hope that many other Participants in the NDIS do not have to go through Brendon's ordeal aswell.
The podcast discussion also covers the latest changes in SDA, according to Brendon, more so about the SDA PRICE REVIEW recently in June. Minh also asks what Brendon thinks about future challenges that Participants will have in trying to get 'choice and control' in their SDA funding requests within the NDIS, now that that it seems the NDIA is turning a corner in their resistance to approve funding for SDA, aswell as removing the delays.
As always, we are always grateful for peoples time and efforts when it comes to sharing their stories, and we hope that our listeners can also see how hard it is for Participants to get the right amount and conditions for funding in SDA. When investing in SDA, always remember that there are people on the other side of the journey, who also want to live in your home, but through no fault of their own, government red tape and bureaucracy gets in the way of a Participant's journey to their forever home, aka your home.
Since this podcast was recorded in early July 2023, we have now welcomed Brendon onboard as a new employee, as he brings his own knowledge of SDA , and corporate experiences from working in Housing Hub, to join our wonderful and growing team at NDIS PROPERTY AUSTRALIA & The SDA HOUSING Podcast.
